This
past weekend, famed bounty hunter Duane “Dog” Chapman made his way through Coquitlam performing at the Red Robinson
Show Theatre at the Boulevard Casino. Many people may initially inquire as to what the show is all about; however, with such
a complex life Dog leads the show is simply about just that – Dog’s life.
The theatre was packed, glancing around there were only a few empty seats in the house. Not only was Dog there to share
many of his stories, his third eldest son Leland Chapman accompanied him. Throughout the show Dog interacted with the crowd
and believe it or not Chapman’s actually a very funny man. With so many landmarks in his life, Dog shared various tales
with the audience including his proudest moments - capturing high profiled criminal Andrew Lusster in Mexico- as well as his
darkest moments – being labelled a racist after racial slurs were caught on tape and turned into tabloid magazines by
his own son. Chapman also took us through his up and downs of his life from being convicted for first degree murder, to being
bombarded by federal agents and taken into a federal penitentiary, to his lasting faith in God, to his various marriages,
his twelve children, and his wedding day – which took place no less than 48 hours of the death of daughter Barbra-
Katie. Is hard to believe this one man has been through so much in a single lifetime.
Dog ended the show with a Q&A alongside Leland- who is apparently quite the ladies man. Once
Leland walked out onto the stage tons of flashes started to go off, as legions of women eagerly started taking pictures while
screams of “I LOVE YOU LELAND” filled the theatre. Much to their delight, Dog and Leland announced
they would return tomorrow for a meet and greet with fans.
There is no question, Dog is a very interesting individual whose charisma and twister fate captivates any
audience before him. With the charming ability to tell stories so outlandishly captivating, Chapman posses that swagger and
appeal to draw audiences in.
